Wedding party Traditions in the Balkans

Weddings can be a joyous occasion that symbolise the union of two people. They bring together groups and close friends for a specific event that is a yearly likelihood for many. Yet , in the past, wedding events used to always be much more than that, we were holding a way of partying a special bond and a new lifestyle. The Balkans used to have a lot of interesting traditions adjoining marriage, some of which are still with their life bosnian mail order bride today while others have been lost on time. Here are some of them:

The comb and plaiting rite, or perhaps “Kolaanja”, is a crucial ritual in Albanian way of life. It’s just performed by girls and is accompanied with specially dedicated melodies. After the brush and plaiting rite, the groom is shaved. Similarly, the groom’s mom is also shaved at the same time. This kind of rite is certainly an essential component from the wedding preparations.

Bulgarian ancestors had a large number of superstitions associated with the wedding procession. This was believed that this would prevent her via having babies that aren’t boys. Furthermore, the mother-in-law would also give her a boy toy as a signal of good luck for her and her husband.

In Montenegro, there was a custom called “tuzlanski zvizduk” in which the groom’s fully equipped friends would escort the new bride to his home. This kind of ceremony was huge with a loud horn blast. The few afterward sat straight down for a wedding feast.

During the wedding party feast, there is often a show up, or kolo, in which guests joined in a circle to dance. The party was usually accompanied by folk music and songs. During the kolo, the groom’s close relatives would sing special tunes to welcome the bride.

Those who did not, were thought to be bad guests. Interestingly enough, this same personalized is still used in some parts of the country.
